Panic!'s New Album
Panic! At The Disco plan to release their second album on March 25. After scrapping the initial sessions for the record, the Las Vegas band started over with a new approach. Guitarist/lyricist Ryan Ross tells Billboard, "We just wanted the record to sound like four people playing a song/ A lot of the songs are definitely more geared toward playing live; we didn't think about that on the last record."
Ross recently told Rolling Stone that the new material is more Classic Rock influenced, name-checking "the Beach Boys, The Kinks, The Beatles. Our new songs are more like Classic Rock than Modern Rock. We got older and started listening to different music - and this seems like the natural thing to do right now."
The new record is still untitled, but new song titles include "Things Have Changed" and "Nine In The Afternoon." Ross says that lyrically, there are less punny titles like "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" and more focus on "our situation now and how things are a lot different than they were on the last record."
Ross told Billboard that the band is planning a theater tour of the States in March, and while Panic! was known for a highly elaborate stage show on their last full tour, he promises that "we're not going to do a circus show again."
